The USN&WR engineering rankings are based solely on (subjective) peer assessment. Other relevant criteria such as student body selectivity, faculty scholarly productivity, job market placement, etc. are largely ignored (even though they might be to a certain extent correlated to peer assessment).

I'm not disputing that MIT for example is #1 for engineering, but I wouldn't put too much weight on US News or any other qualitative "magazine ranking" for that matter.

Yea these rankings are generally the same every time. It's basically pick the top 10 schools and throw them into every category in some order with MIT on the top of every one.

Why are these lists so short. Does anybody have the top 15 or so for M E and Aerospace Engineering?

Does USNWR not do peer assessment scores for undergrad specialty rankings? I see rankings, but no numbers. If they do it, can I get EE peer assessment scores for the top 10 in the field?

I really want to know the detailed rankings for materials engineering. Virginia Tech was number 16 last year. Also, Penn State dropped from #5 to #10, which is quite a big change imo.

Yes,exactly.
That's why I am more interested in NRC ranking even though it's for doctoral program.

I'm surprised to see Penn State over CMU in the materials rankings, as one of my friends went there for undergrad and went to CMU for grad and said CMU was a much stronger program.
