Is anyone familiar with SUNY Maritime?

I'm wondering which fields on engineering this school is good for, or at least I've heard that it was good for engineering. Does anyone know? I don't think it's that high because I never saw it make the list for top ranked schools for engineering..then again we shouldn't always go by ranking. That's why I ask you guys

Oh it's a very well known school with decent rankings. The engineers coming from that school are respected for their license and power plant experience aboard the school's training ship. I know of several grads out the door who were hired by Con Edison as plant engineers, others went straight to seagoing careers, some even went to work in large nuke plants. Very good school with great salaries awaiting graduates.

My first job was within three months of graduation at $75,000 a year, and I was on the lower end compared to some of my friends.

I am a high school senior who is applying to colleges now and Maritime is my first choice. I just wanted to ask you what you majored in at Maritime? I really don't know which major to choose (each one seems attractive to me in a different way) so I was wondering if you had any suggestions or tips for choosing a major. Also, when did you attend Maritime? I would really appreciate your help.

Maritime is in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx not far from Manhattan and Long Island. It is heavily populated with males. Can some girls mention why they don't want to apply or attend?

I don't know why more women don't apply to Maritime. I am applying as a transfer for the fall semester and the skewed gender ratio doesn't seem like a problem for me. For engineering students I think it's more realistic about what you will find outside of an academic environment and especially any maritime related careers.
