Hey guys, wondering what my chances are for UNC as an out of state, which i hear is very difficult...

Stats:

93.6 GPA, we dont do the 4.0 scale so I have no idea what mine is as the guidance counselors won't tell us.
33 ACT composite
2090 SATI, 750 math, 670 for reading and writing.
Good Extracurriculars and Recommendations.

Sorry for not elaborating much on extracurriculars, just plenty of volunteering and clubs(some leadership positions)

Thanks!!!

Rutgers vs. UNC

Hi. I'm a prospective premed who is debating whether or not he should apply to UNC. The reason why I probably will not apply to UNC is because if I were accepted into both, I would probably choose Rutgers over UNC. This is because...

PROS of Rutgers-
-NJ Native (cheaper tuition)
-Much easier to get into Rutgers than UNC as an OOS
-#2 Philosophy Program In Nation (where i want to major)
-Much more diversity in race and gender than UNC
-More chance of a scholarship

I don't know if I should bother applying to UNC through these reasons, despite the benefits I would receive for UNC:

PROS of UNC-
-Top 10 Medical School, Has a hospital on campus
-Basketball Obliterates
-Chapel Hill>New Brunswick

If you want to, tell me why I should apply to UNC. Thanks.

Question about the Robertson Scholarship

I'm interested in the Robertson Scholarship, but I don't really see the point in submitting the separate application. From how I understand it, if I actually have a chance at the scholarship, the admissions committee will forward my application to the Robertson Scholarship Nomination Committee anyway, so what's the point? I know that they try to advertise the separate application as a way to be "sure" that my application would be seen by the nomination committee, but would I really have a great chance at the scholarship if the UNC admission committee didn't think I would have a great chance in the first place?

Any advice appreciated.

chances for an OOSer

*  SAT I (breakdown): 2290 [760 CR, 800 M, 730 W] Retook in November as well.
    * ACT: 34
    * SAT II: Math II 800, Physics 770, US History 780
    * Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0; 5.2 weighted.
    * Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1 / 116
    * AP (place score in parenthesis): AP Bio: 4, AP Euro: 5, AP Cal AB: 5, AP Phy B 5, Calc BC 5, Envi. Sci 4., US History 5, Eng. Lang 5. Taking 10 exams this year.
    * Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.):

      Subjective:
    * Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): NHS, president and founder of MAO, president of Science NHS.
    * Volunteer/Community service: 300 hours at a summer program . been a student since 6th grade summer, 1000+ hrs.
    * Sports: I played varsity tennis two years, we didn't have it this year. I play tennis at a club as well, as well as rec basketball for two years.
    * Essays: I wrote great ones.
    * Recs: Teachers showed them, superb.

      Other
    * State (if domestic applicant): Florida
    * School Type: charter
    * Ethnicity: Indian
    * Gender: M
    * Income Bracket: 75K
    * Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): No, but if my parents went to college outside of America, does that count for anything?

Our school really isn't good at all, and it offers 15 AP courses in total, except few pass them. I've already passed more ap courses than last year's valedictorian. Taught myself multi-var calculus + linear algebra, and currently studying real analysis.

Any other comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
