I want to go to Colby so bad its painful. It is pretty much my absolute dream school. I applied ED, so I think that might help a bit.

White/female/Massachusetts
GPA: 3.1 (I know, I know. but I transferred schools and that was very rough)
SATs: 2120 (took them again, new scores come out in a couple of days)
         writing: 800, math: 630, critical reading: 690
school doesn't rank
went to one of the toughest public schools in the country
AP English
Tons of honors courses
Three years of French AND three years of Latin (I doubled up sophomore and junior years)
rigorous senior year schedule. got all A's first quarter
good teacher recs, great counselor rec
Essay: Pretty great. I wrote about how I'm confused about what I want out of life
and how I perceive myself, all through the analogy to a box of crayons
Supplement: I did the one about seeing things for the last time. I wrote about
moving away from my childhood home and looking back on all the scuff
marks, stains, imperfections of my house and seeing them as beautiful
because of the memories tied to them
EC:
Varsity softball - four years, MVP freshman year, conference all star freshman and sophomore years, captain senior year
Varsity Volleyball - three years
JV Volleyball - one year
Elite tournament softball - for six years, five days a week from May-October
Tournament volleyball - sophomore year
Job - work at my aunt's cafe every weekend for free
Church altar server
Violin - took lessons many years, play at church
Dance - taken classes my whole life
School play - junior year. It was a competition play so it was pretty intense. we
            went to the state finals
Photography - photo featured in Boston Globe contest "Raw"
School Newspaper - wrote for senior year
Volunteer service:
mission trip to Alabama, February vacation of sophomore year
Soup kitchen trips with softball team
There is more I can't remember
Awards:
perfect attendance junior year hahaha
National Latin Award gold Summa cum Laude
Interview: went REALLY well. I interviewed with Mr. Beverage, Dean of admissions
I also sent in some creative writing pieces with my application. Mr. Beverage told me to when I told him I wanted to major in creative writing, and had some stuff of my own

Please, please chance me. I want to know if I should hold some hope or not

EDII?? or Regular decision?

Colby is certainly my top school, and i will go even if it were not binding if i got accepted.
my stats arent stellar... with pleasantly positive upward trend (at least 5% upward each year) my school doesnt rank but id assume to be around top 20% and i go to a top private school in canada
i am waiting on my november sats expecting 2100~2200
sat II i got 800 800 and 790 on 2 sciences and math II

i have a lot of ECs including leadership positions
my essays hsould be solid, nothing spectacular

i was wondering if applying as EDII will increase my chances at all..
and also if the EDII pool is more competitive than the rd pool..

should I apply ED2 or regular?

I'm applying ED to Colgate, but I am expecting to be rejected. Colby is probably my 2nd choice, but I don't know if I want to apply ED2 and not even see what other schools I get into. Basically, my question is, what are my chances of applying regular vs. ED2?

Female, half-Asian, MA
-3.8 weighted (3.61 unweighted)
-upward grade trend
-Top public school, doesn't rank, probably about top 20-30%
-1420/2180 SAT (CR:730, Math:690, Writing:760)
-ACT:30
-good extracurriculars, leadership, etc.
-lots of community service
-good essays/recs
-no financial aid needed

Thanks!!

SAT Scores and ED 1

I have taken the SAT 3 times and my superscores are as follows:
Reading-650
Math-640
Writing-740

Are these competitive scores for Colby ED 1 or do you suggest taking it a 4th time with an aim of a 2100+? Score choice would make it so my first SAT date would not show up, if that helps....

Preppy?

Is Colby really preppy? Looks like a good academic fit for my son, but he is more comfortable with working class kids than the upper middle class ones at his high school. He enjoys outdoorsy activities, which is what attracted him to Colby. Any advice about how a kid without a lot of money would do socially would be appreciated.
