Precalculus during the summer

Hey guys! I'm in a tight situation here because of my academic courses in high school. The fact of the matter is that I moved to another town in New York state and I couldn't accelerate whatsoever in any courses. So I was forced to take Algebra I and Algebra II Trig (which I am taking this year) since I was new and the state just changed the mathematic curriculum.

So the main question is whether I could take Precalculus during the summer in order to take AP Calc AB (the highest math course in my high school besides IB Math HL)? If yes, what should I expect at the community college for precalculus during the summer?

Summer Program at Indiana University

My d is completing her freshman year of HS this year. I noticed on IU's website that they have a precollege program open to all incoming freshman, sophomores, and juniors (she will be a sophomore).

They spend 5 days on the IU campus taking academic classes in math, english, critical thinking. They live in the dorm for those days and also take SAT prep classes. They also have recreational time that introduces them to the IU campus and the Bloomington area (things like bowling, etc).

We are strongly considering applying for this opportunity for our daughter this summer. We think the SAT prep would be good for her prior to taking the PSAT. Also, it would be a good way to introduce her to a state school. We also thought about holding off a year, but figure she will have a job the summer between her 10th and 11th grade years and it would be harder for her to take a whole week off to do something like this.

Has anyone either gone through this or sent dd or ds through it? Would really like opinions on if the timing is right and if it would be a good investment.

The Putney School summer programs

I am a high school sophmore interested in a summer art program. I was considering the Putney School programs, but I was wondering if the program is any good. I would like to do some sort of summer art program this summer. However, I have serveral events going on in June and July so the only good time for me to go would be after July 19 or 20, 2010.

So is it any good or is there a better program with dates after July 19 or 20? I'm also considering Massart. I could really use some help on good programs. My interest are drawing, painting, and I would like to try glasswork.

Biology v. Organic Chem over the summer?

I am currently high school sophomore, and I am planning to go to the Harvard summer program this summer. I am planning on going into medical school, hopefully, so I was wondering which class would be better to take for college credit over the summer, Introductory Biology or Organic Chemistry? The main reason I would take Organic Chemistry would be to complete the requirement, but I would take the bio class so that I could delve into more advanced topics in biology earlier than I would have otherwise.
Also, I have two other question. I am currently taking AP Chemistry, which my teacher said is equivalent to general/inorganic chemistry in college, is that true? Is the introductory bio course over the summer equivalent to, better than, or worse than an AP Bio class?

Thanks in advance,
David
