Beside the fact that HMC is a small college in which the professors take personal notice of you and that there is ample research opportunities during the summer, what is unique about HMC that other colleges don't have??
Thanks a lot for responding to this. :)

Should I even bother applying now :(?

Soo. I was so excited to apply ED to HMC.

I have about a 3.8UW 4.2 W GPA, scored a 2100 (690CR 730M 680W) on my third try.

Took the subject tests today for the first time. I epically failed. probably got below 600 on both Lit and Math II. :(

At my interview, they said I should apply even if i have bad SAT II scores since one test isnt going to be a determining factor.

What do you guys think? Retake them and then submit, or am I just way out of my league? : (

My dad doesn't even think i can get into UCSD now.. I hope he's not right..

Harvey Mudd Prerequisites

Hello!

Well, I visited Harvey Mudd and I loved it! I really feel like I could learn a lot from this school and I feel I would have endless opportunities after I graduate. The only thing im concerned about is how prepared I have to be to attend. Im in the IB program at my highschool so I understand rigor. I guess my first question is, how much does the IB program prepare you for Harvey Mudd? Secondly, I am only in Calculus AB and I've read other posts saying that Calc BC is required before you even attend! This freaked me out a little. Also, my knowledge in physics is lacking. I really want to go to Harvey Mudd but I just feel like I would be so behind in all of my classes.

Anybody want to share their opinion on how prepared you have to be? Or any personal success stories of succeeding at Mudd without being that prepared for the rigor?

Thank you!

"Happy" at HMC?

I know that it's a given that 1) everyone at HMC is the "once every 10 years kid" for his highschool instructors, and 2) the academics will rip you apart and rebuild you better, stronger, and faster.

But it seems that even the people who love it there love it only because it's teaching them so much. Are you "happy" or are you there only for the future opportunities? Is the school broccoli that you eat because it's good for you, or is it lasagna that's good for you but also fun? (Please don't sic the Broccoli Growers Association on me!) (Note: I'm also posting this at Caltech)

Thanks!
