FAFSA Corrections..

TrunksSSJ23TrunksSSJ23 Posts: 94Registered User Junior Member
I am trying to make corrections to my FAFSA but for some reason it won't let me. I was able to edit something yesterday for my paren'ts 2010 federal tax return, but today it just lets me view my correction history. I am trying to edit my SAR so that I can put in my Student 2010 federal tax return but I don't see an option to anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

My guess is that the changes you made yesterday need to process before you can update again. Wait a day or two.

Yes it does take a few days especially over a weekend. I never had it take more than 3.

    Alright thanks.

Alright so it allows me to edit it now, but I still don't see where I can add in my financial info. All I see is where to edit my paren't financial info.

That's odd. You can't click on the student section at the top of the page?

The only option I see is Student Demographics, School Selection, Dependency Status, Parent Demographics, and Financial Info. On the Financial Info page, it is just stuff for my parents though, not me. But on my SAR it says I can edit my Student Info and when I click it it just directs me back to this page.

The issue may be with one of the filtering questions. Did you say that you "will not file?" If so, that may be preventing your update. If you can't find that question in the Finances tab, look under student demographics. I think if you can find that question & update it to already filed, you will get the rest of the tax questions.

I don't see it on the Student Demographic's page, lol.

I think it's in the 32-35 questions or close to that. They have live help which is usually pretty quick if you want to try that. They can see your forms and help you.

Thanks for that. They told me to check off that I wanted to fill out my mother's assests, and my info came up :).

Do you have a 0 EFC? I bet you fall into the auto 0 EFC formula, where your info makes no difference to the bottom line ... but you are still supposed to enter your info, so the skip logic is making it unnecessarily difficult. So much for simplification, eh?

^Bingo for reason not being able to make online changes.

Lol, yeah my EFC is 0. And also do they not send emails anymore saying that your info has been processed? Because I can make corrections again today as if what I did yesterday is already processed, but I didn't get an email like I used to back in January for making corrections.

I didn't either..maybe it's too busy. I printed out the confirmation page and will send it too the school to make sure they download it if it doesn't show it updated on their site by April.
