    have you tried this

    http://www.ifap.ed.gov/fedschcodelist/attachments/1213FedSchoolCodeList.pdf

    https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/schoolSearch?locale=en_EN

IF you go to the website of the college where you are applying the FAFSA code should be listed in the financial aid section

Could it be your browser? I used IE8 yesterday and had no problems looking up 8 schools. I didn't try to input the codes, just searched by state to select schools and it was pretty fast - try that?

Does your school have the word "The" in the front?

We have had trouble finding our sons' undergrad on various online dropdown lists (GRE, MCAT, etc) because instead of putting University of Alabama under "U", these lists sometimes put it under "T" and include "The" in the front. Yet, it doesn't do that with many of the other flagships.

    Another possibility....

If you're searching by "city," then sometimes a school is listed under another city's name. Sometimes the "city" is the school's name or some other odd name.

It's odd - no schools came up at all.

Can't you search for the colleges on the FAFSA by state? If you can...try putting the state in, and then scrolling down until you find YOUR school.

I got the codes from the school web sites - try that? I did have one to add without the code and it found it, so maybe it was an overnight glitch. I used Firefox 8 even though the site told me it was unsupported.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried putting just the state, then the state, city, and school name, then just the school code, and each time the FAFSA says it's processing, and times out after 10 minutes. I think I have IE 9. Everything's up to date. At first I just through the server was slow because every senior in the country was trying to do this application, but I've tried it every hour of the day and nothing works. I'm so stressed because I can't move on to any other sections until I do this. Help please!!

I finally figured out how to get this to work! If you're using IE for FAFSA and it isn't working, you probably have IE 9, which apparently won't work. This is incredibly likely if you have Windows 7 especially.

To downgrade to IE 8 (which works), go to control panel > programs and features > click "View Installed Updates" on the left > scroll down to the "Microsoft Windows" catagory > find "Windows Internet Explorer 9" and right click > click uninstall > restart when prompted.

@portableheart thanks so much! That worked and I'm so relieved! If anyone else is having this problem, downgrade to IE 8 and it should work. Kind of a pain in the butt, but at least things are working now!

    Or get Firefox :)

Mozilla Firefox Web Browser ? Free Download

You may never return to IE though....

I'm at school right now (I'm finished with my assignments) and it worked. Weird, because FAFSA says that IE 9 will work. Hm.
