Brown Financial Aid Question (non-custodial profile)

Hello. I sent an application to Brown University last week for the CSS non-custodial profile to be waived. Today, I checked my account on Brown's website and under the financial aid section under Unsatisfied Requirements it says CSS profile (because I havent submitted it yet), but under satisfied requirements its says:

Satisfied Requirements Requirement, Status, As of Date
Non custodial parent waiver, Satisfied, Jan 03, 2012

Does this mean my petition for a waiver was granted and I dont have to fill out the non-custodial profile?

Thanks for you help!

I believe it simply means that they've received your paperwork asking for the NCP profile to be waived. The NCP profile will need to be filled out either way - irrespective of whether Brown decides to waive it. They will likely send you a notification, after you sent all the information, whether they will allow the waiver or not.

I agree with JoMarch, that the status update means that they have received your request for a non-custodial waiver, not that they have acted upon it.
Remember 1/3/12 is the first business day of the year, which means that this is most likely when the school opened after the christmas break.

The school will inform you in writing, whether or not they are approving your waiver . However, based on your previous post that your parents had a nasty divorce and your father's unwillingness to pay anything after the support agreement ends, it is highly unlikely that the waiver will be granted.

Brown states:

Quote:

Q. What should I do if my non-custodial parent is unwilling to contribute or complete the Non-Custodial Parent Statement (NCPS) application requirement?

A. Brown believes that the primary responsibility for educational expenses lies with the student and the family. As such, Brown requires the submission of non-custodial income information detailing the parent's ability, not willingness, to contribute. Should parents discontinue their financial support for reasons other than ability to pay, Brown will not assume the parental responsibility for financial support of the student.
