Correction to Oakland University in Michigan - the full ride scholarship is only available to Michigan residents. Confirmed by the Financial Aid office today:

"The OU Presidential Award is available to Michigan residents only. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions does offer some out-of-state scholarships to entering freshmen students. For more information on those please view the freshmen scholarship flyer at: www.oakland.edu/scholarships."

Again-- thanks BOB!!!

What a bummer that the Northeast does not have any representation. The closest school is Maryland.

It's always been difficult to find assured full tuition (or more) scholarships in the NE that aren't NMF related.

There is a separate thread for cataloging schools like Cooper Union that give free tuition to all admitted students:

Tuition-Free Colleges

This thread is for scholarships of full tuition or greater magnitude with clearly defined test scores/grades criteria. Admission to Cooper Union is not based on defined test scores or grades.

This is such great info - my son is very interested in bama (thanks to all the help from folks on this site), so if he applies now in August, generally how long until he would find out? he also wants to apply to honors college and fellows program, and the scholarship (he has a 33 ACT and 3.63 GPA). But that doesn't happen until December is that correct? This all seems almost too good to be true...

upstate13: Alabama is accepting applications now for Fall 2013. Once you apply then you fill out the scholarship application. There is a deadline for the scholarship application -- I think it is before December. The folks on the Alabama board are a fountain of information so you may want to check them out.

If he applies now (the app has been LIVE for over a month), and then submits the scholarship app, and he sends transcripts and scores, he'll likely be accepted by the beginning of Sept...scholarship award given around the same time.

First you apply (quick and easy app). Then within 1-3 business days, you'll receive a "follow up email" with log-on instructions to MyBama. Then you'll have access to the scholarship app. Submit at that point...also easy to do.

Yes, the apps must be submitted by Dec 1st, but those who apply now will get accepted and scholarship awards rather quickly. Bama has rolling admissions, and usually doesn't take long once transcripts and scores are rec'd.

So...apply to school NOW, then a few days later, submit the scholarship app.

THEN, after acceptance (which should be quick), THEN you'll have access to the Honors College app (the link will appear on MyBama after acceptance.)

It's all good.....it's not too good to be true. It is true. Bama will award this to every student who applies that has met the req'ts....the needed GPA, the needed test scores, and applies by Dec 1st. (Int'ls must be ACCEPTED by Dec 1st to qualify, so they should apply NOW since their apps take longer to process)
