I was just sent a nice email at six in the morning detailing how I didn't qualify for Cal Grant B because my parents' gross income goes over the income ceiling, even though their AGI falls under the income ceiling by more than 10k. This seems unfair to me, especially since the FAFSA itself only counts AGI in calculating the EFC. This is 14k I won't be getting this year...and the CSAC has the GALL TO SEND ME THIS EMAIL ON A SATURDAY WHEN I'M STUDYING FOR FINALS, SO I HAVE TO BROOD ABOUT IT UNTIL MONDAY MORNING.

Unfortunately, you will see more and more that seems unfair. Try not to dwell on things you can't change, putting your energy into things you can.

I agree, I'm putting it out of my mind and focusing on studying for finals, until Monday when I can call my FA office and the CSAC office. Will update then.

If the gross and adjusted aren't too different, you might still qualify for the Blue & Gold guarantee. (if you are at a UC or CSU). This isn't as good as Cal Grant B, but does provide grants and/or scholarships up to the base tuition amount. So don't panic yet!

What is your gross income? If it's under $80k, then you qualify for Blue and Gold for UCs.
