USA TODAY College: 7 of the strangest scholarships you’ve ever heard of

You know that unique, heretofore useless, talent you have for making prom dresses out of duct tape? Well, it could win you a $5,000 scholarship!

Here is definitive proof that if you look hard enough for money to help pay for college you will eventually find something. Good luck in advance to any of you who decide to pursue one of these, but please take photos or videos or collect other evidence to document your entries

Those are pretty weird.

The weirdest one I have seen before those, was that you can actually get a scholarship for being a transplant recipient. Which I am. But I don't know how heartbreaking my story really is. It seems like you have to write something extreme about your life before the surgery or something along those lines, just to win. I think you're gonna have to write like basically something on par with a screenplay of an action film and make it really dramatic. And I wouldn't be up for that. Of course i'm exaggerating, but how else would you stand out of 100s of essays being turned in.

Kel2012, I think you should go for it...there can't be that many transcript recipients who are also HS seniors in any given year.

The Zombie Scholarship has my son written all over it - my husband, too, but he is not college-bound!
