Schools that give A LOT of financial aid

I heard that Northwestern is one and that generally, private schools give more aid than public schools. Do you guys know any others schools known for giving a lot of financial aid?

I know there are a lot of top LAC's that give a lot. One specifically good one I'd look into is Grinnell, which is a top LAC ranked as #22 (i think) on US News.

This is a good place to start doing your research: Project on Student Debt: Financial Aid Pledges

If you see some schools you're interested in, make sure to go to their own FA websites to find the most current info. There may be info on the Student Debt Project site that is outdated.

This is simple research that you can do yourself - go to the Princeton Review website and just check the financial aid rating for any school you are considering.

Even the schools that give the best aid don't give aid to those who don't qualify for it. There are many full pay and near-full-pay students at these schools.

So, run the net price calculators on the websites.

If there is a non-custodial parent in the student's life then the NPCs may not be accurate. Also if a parent is self-employed the NPC may not be accurate.

Most schools (private and public) do not give great aid.
