Is fafsa applicable for international students?

I am from India and I have only an Indian Citizenship. AM I eligible to apply for aid through FAFSA. Something about 'a federal student' makes me pessimistic about the answer to this question. SOry for being ignorant but just want to be sure.

Some colleges and universities use the FAFSA formula for their own aid calculations. If you apply to one of those institutions, you will need to file the FAFSA for them. Otherwise unless you are a US citizen, US legal permanent resident, or fall into one of the special categories (primarily refugees and asylees) you would not need to file it because you wouldn't be eligible for federal aid.
