Hello, am an international student and hope to study in the USA but I'm dearly in need of a full ride to finance my studies.. I have a 3.42 unweighted GPA and I hope to take the October SAT and with my own believe, I know I can get 1300+. please what are my chances and the colleges I can have a shot at?

You will need to be a top student in your country to get a full ride. Your stats do not indicate this at the moment. Check out these. Many may not be available for International applicants.

same question. I came from abroad but I have US citizenship. I came to USA last month. now ı living in virginia from june 1. I want to study computer science in USA. last mont I graduated from abroad . this year can I take full ride scholarship ? another question. for example I will apply 2 different college. one of them from top school for example first school is from top 10-25 they accept but dont give full ride than ı will chose the other from 25-75 from us ranking. can take full ride. my GPA is 3,45 GPA, 770+SAT-math and 500+sat english sat score.
ı prefer best school but ı need full ride .

Guys, even with a 4.0 GPA and a 1600 SAT, you have like a 1% of getting full tuition at US schools as an international student. Forget it.

The US takes alot of FULL PAY international students into their colleges.

Every one of the 180 Seniors I taught last year would love a full ride. So would my 3 kids and all my nieces and nephews.

The reality is that it isn't going to happen. Not for them, and not for the majority of people.

Think about it logically-- if the cost of attending a particular school is, say, $40,000 a year-- why would they GIVE that to you? Schools need tuition to say open-- why would they give those elusive "full rides" away?

I'll give you the same advice I've given my students an my own kids: find a school you can afford to attend.

What colleges are you able to attend in your own country for free. Start looking at those first.

@hasomaso Are you the parent or the child? In this thread you said you are the parent http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/virginia-tech/1991953-from-abroad-full-tuition-scholarships-for-my-son-for-computer-science.html#latest

But now you're stating you are the student. Which is it?

Do you have any idea how entitled your posts are?

Please keep us updatted and let us know which top "25-75" schools offers you a "full ride"

It always amazes me when otherwise apparently bright kids think our streets really are lined in gold.

Even with perfect stats chances of a full ride anywhere are very small. With those stats a full ride is impossible anywhere.

dear Lindagaf , I know college cost is very expensive in USA. and in my country public college fees only 100-250usd . and some of them send a lot of students to USA and Europe. private university prices is 5000-10000usd max. but every private university has full ride scholarship for 10% or 15% student . and for 25% student teh also offer %50 price discount. not all courses of courses . especially for engineering and medicine.students. I only asked if any college gives a discount or full scholarship ; what is the requirment?. if my son cannot take scholarship, perhaps he will decide other options. like CC, or FAFSA+ another scholars for some part +work. or if he cannot take scholar he can go back my country and take bachelor degree . after BS degre, perhaps he can decide MS degree in another country. I only asked for help. out of state fees are very high and so I wanted to help for my son, to find a way to his education. normall I prefer , he must go to college in my country . there is no universty cost and he lives with me . and in this century he can learn all the things from internet too.. thank you.
