This is a compilation of large scholarship awards that are automatically awarded. The awards included in this list meet the following criteria:

    1. Awarded automatically based on GPA, SAT, ACT, and/or class rank
    2. At least Full Tuition/Full Ride in magnitude (or equivalent)
    3. Open to all US students, regardless of state residency, ethnicity, race, etc.
    4. No need-based requirement or component
    5. College must be accredited, public or non-profit private, 4-year degree-granting institution

    Key:

Full Tuition: covers the cost of tuition for 4 years

Full Ride: covers Tuition, Room, and Board for 4 years (may include other benefits as well)

exp: stipend for experiential learning (internship, study abroad, etc., allowable uses vary by college)

Where published, the application deadline for receiving the scholarships is included. Some deadlines are “Priority” deadlines, so awards after the deadline may still be possible.

Some schools give awards on a first-come, first-served basis as funds are available. A notation is included for all schools with this caveat.

Here's a new one I found with guaranteed scholarships, Texas A&M - Kingsville.

"Freshman merit scholarships are awarded to entering first-time freshman who show exceptional academic ability through superior test scores and class ranking. Students admitted by December 15 are guaranteed; admission after this date is limited by availability of these scholarships. "

Appears to give equivalent to full-tuition for 30 ACT + 25% Rank up to near Tuition + Room/Board at 35 ACT

    Texas A&M University - Kingsville

Application Deadline: (Accepted by) December 15th
Award (per year): $8,000 + OOS Tuition Waiver up to $15,000 + OOS Tuition Waiver (In-State Tuition: ~$8,000)
Requirements: Top 25% Rank + 30 ACT up to Top 25% Rank + 35 ACT

Presidential Scholar for out-of-state students is $25,000 per year, not full tuition. Current out-of-state tuition is $28,900 ($3,900 higher than the Presidential Scholar amount).

Presidential Scholar for in-state students is still full tuition, and the test score threshold is 32 ACT or 1450 SAT.

Thank you @ucbalumnus and @TexasApex ! I will incorporate and paste again. Not messing with bold, etc as it doesn't carry over when copy/pasted, and I edited out stuff that doesn't fit the previous format (like renewal requirements - super useful but I think kids can follow the links)

@mom2collegekids - Confirming Alabama is no longer offering full tuition to Presidential scholars, only Presidential Elites or instate Presidential?
  • ucbalumnusucbalumnus Registered User Posts: 62,182 Senior Member
@OHMomof2 If possible, I would suggest that the renewal criteria be listed. Some of these scholarships are much less desirable due to their renewal criteria (e.g. at Florida A&M, the scholarship recipient cannot change major).

In addition, if it is known whether HS GPA is unweighted or weighted (and how weighted if so), it is best if that is listed.
  • OHMomof2OHMomof2 Registered User Posts: 9,847 Senior Member
Feel free to redo the list and post but I think they can get all that from the provided web link, and it's more info to maintain going forward, also not available for all scholarships.
