Wells College- Aurora, NY

21st Century Leadership Awards
Wells College presents 21st Century Leadership Awards to high school juniors who demonstrate outstanding leadership ability in high school and community activities. Recipients are nominated by their school college counselor or principal/headmaster and are then recognized by the Admissions Committee. 21st Century Leadership Awards recipients are awarded a $20,000 scholarship, $5,000 a year for four consecutive years of study at the college.

My D received this last year, but the school doesn't offer anything for her major!! Wells does have many institutional-based forms of financial aid and have tried to keep their tuition and fees within reason.

Hello! I'm looking for grants for National Merit Finalists. I've been offered a Univ. of CA Regents scholarship, but it's not much money...just $2,500 per year. When looking through the sponsors for National Merit, I don't seem to qualify, because my parents are educators and not working for specific organizations listed on the National Merit Sponsors' form.

This is a helpful thread for those who do not qualify for need-based aid.

Anyone know if some colleges are still touting full-rides? The schools I applied to did have full-rides, I just never knew that you had to file a separate application - and by now it's too late to apply for those same scholarships.

So... any colleges still offering full-rides? (Preferably respectable colleges)

My first son applied to UNC Chapel Hill, and quite frankly, we did not even expect acceptance because they made it sound impossible for out of state students to get in at all. Then they not only accepted him, but offered him a full ride as a Chancellor's Scholar!

I forgot to say, he did not fill out a special application for this full merit scholarship, it just came from them reviewing his application. He is now finishing his junior year.

Bradley University gives NM finalists full tuition scholarships. For semi-finalists, the scholarship is half tuition. Bradley is known for its great engineering department, and they have strong business and nursing programs too, among others. It's a private university in Peoria, IL, and they typically have about 5,000 undergrads on campus, so it's not too large.

Good luck!!

Park Scholar
Full Ride + laptop + stipend.
Park Scholar Program - Ithaca College

The award is competitive. There are around 500 applicants, then 30 are selected to be finalists and attend on campus interviews. From that 30, appx 15 are selected to be a scholar. To keep the award, you must maintain a 3.5 GPA and be involved in plenty of community service.

To apply you must be a freshmen entering Ithaca as a student in the Communications school. And you must be a US citizen. The average recipients SAT is 1350/1600, but don't let that fool you! People that receive it can have lower or higher. It is purely based on your commitment to the communications program.

Rutgers gives up to a full ride for in-state residents. Other benefits include guaranteed housing and admission to honors programs. >1500 CR+M on SAT, or 35 on ACT, plus top 5% of HS class gets you the full deal.

azsxdc has given links to the freestudenthelp.blogspot.com/ in several places on cc. If one looks closely you will see that this site is nothing but repeats of posts already on cc, complete with former errors and misspellings. It is nice that everything is on one site but let's give credit where credit is due.

I haven't taken the time to look through this entire forum, but in case it hasn't been mentioned:

I am a National Merit Finalist. Fordham University gives full scholarships to anyone who is at least a semi-finalist. I'll be starting there in the fall, even though I had plans on attending a prestigious, Ivy League school . (I wouldn't be going if it wasn't for the money.) I think it's a much better school than most of the schools that offer full merit aid for NM.

Even if you're not NM, they give out a lot of scholarships. I think most people in the top 8-10% of the applicant pool get money.

I'm also in the Honors Program there, which basically gives me the type of intellectual education I was looking for. If you're an Ivy-level student, look into this. It's a great deal. Now I won't have to worry about grad school because my parents will take up the bill. Study abroad is free. I'm in NYC, so internship and career options are excellent. I couldn't be happier.
