I got the card mentioning the conference as well. We can sign up through the website right? I also got my statement saying how much i'm receiving. When do we receive our scholarship?

You'll get more info about the conference (either LA or Virginia) in the next few months. I went to the one in LA last year and didn't get all my information until around mid to maybe late September. They're probably working on the scholars going to the Virginia conference first. I'm not sure how they're doing it this year with the new website and all, but I don't remember signing up through the website last year.

As for your scholarship money, you'll get sometime in August. They'll send you a check co-written to you and your school. You send it to the scholarship office at your school, and they'll deposit it into your account. V4runC00l, you should have enough funds (assuming this is how they do it at UCLA) that once they deduct your tuition and fees the remaining funds will be given to you to pay for books, housing, etc.

Hey everyone! Hope you all are enjoying your summer. Anyway, I have received all the info about the Gates Conference. I'm going to the one in Virginia, so if anyone else is let me know! As Proud Husky said, we have to register online. The conference in Virginia is scheduled for October 5-7, so the last day to register is Sept. 10. Hope to see some of you in October!

hey guyz how do we register for which conference we want to attened? I received the letter in the mail telling me about it but no info on how to register?

My provisional financial award letter indicated I $0 parent and student contribution. Howver the letter I just received indicated I must pay full tuition. How do I notify Gates about this. Basically means I need another 9 or so grand from them?????

Contact your specific program director (UNCF, APIASF, etc.). Let them know about the changes. You may be able to file a revision request. GMS allows for one award revision per academic year.
