does anyone know if the freshman gms information sheet that you send to your college determines the amount of money that goes towards your COA? because we do not find out the actual amount of our housing and meal plans until after the forms are due. so can the my institution request more money at a later time?

thanks!

a question, how much money is your college/gates giving you for personal expenses? and can you break it down into travel, books, computer, misc, etc?

help!

i e-mailed my college financial aid counselor about the gates scholarship, but she said:

Thanks for your email. The Gates scholarship will only cover your federal work study of $. Gates cannot help cover your student contribution, insurance or laptop expenses. If you have any questions please let me know.

i know gates does not cover student contribution, but they should cover insurance, laptop, and personal expenses like book or travel, right? i'm going to call them, but any advice on how i should go about explaining it to them?

hey elizabeth!!!
i have no idea about the loan issue but the school i'm going to (Rice University) made my gates package include: travel, books, supplies, a laptop AND insurance!!! tell your school that other schools change the financial aid package so that those things are available for you! what school are you going to???

P.S. I hope it all works out for you!!!

@elizabeth.... sorry to hear that but that really depend on the school.....some refused to change their COA....if you persuade her enough maybe they will say yes...but it all depends....

me...being lucky...gates will need to cover a 2500 laptop and a 2000 health insurance....
