My D says her status is still "not found" also, and her application was completed 1 1/2 weeks before the due date.

i tried checking status on telephone and it led me in a vicious circle of main menu, entering my social and pin, and then back to the main menu.... anyone else experiencing this?

how many gates are sent out each year, what are the values, and what are the criteria for eligibility?

I see there seems to be one or more essays required, but is there a minimun gpa, act, rank that they are looking for in addition to this?

you have to do the fafsa by february 1 to determine pell right. but do i just fill it out and thats it, or is there some spot where I have to send it to the gates foundation. this issue has been bothering me for days.

joecollegedad, each year, 1000 people are chosen to be gates millennium scholars. test scores are not taken into account, however, the applicant must have a minimum unweighted gpa of 3.3. your other questions can be answered at this handy dandy site: https://www.gmsp.org/GMSP%5FApp/

lyfe, to my knowledge, gates doesn't ask for your fafsa information unless you are selected as a finalist, which is in March. It is at that time that you submit you fafsa information to them. For the moment, don't sweat it. Just be sure to fill out your fafsa ASAP to meet your school deadlines, which should be coming up relatively soon, I'm guessing.

The Gates website states the Fafsa must be filled out no later than February 1st.

It looks like Gates scholarships are closed now. the handy dandy link says the following

The 2008-2009 Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Nomination Process extended deadline was January 14, 2008. The database is now closed. Nominees will receive notification in March 2008.

yeah, it is indeed closed for this year, joecollegedad. A similar process repeats every year though.
