yeah, i guess i'll call april once i get home today. i still have to go and talk to my financial aid counselor...i think gates should pay for the college deposits cuz i agree w/ aubrey that it is a lot of money

You'll have to fund the deposit because the checks from Gates will come much later. However, tuition deposits will be refunded to you once all the bills are covered by your school grants and the Gates award.
In so many words, you have to pay now but it's not a cost to you as long as it's part of the Cost of Attendance.

I sent my stuff in on the March 13/14, my letter was postmarked on April 16 from UNCF

wow congratz you guys...!!!!! hopefully i get one next week too....
for those still waiitng, i called ms april rongero today and she said the decisions were made the 15th and are being sent out at the ned of this week, (so some havent been sent yet)
so try to relax, and not freak out yet!

I received my notification today. The letter was dated April 15th. I wasn't selected as a scholar. There were 1800 finalists this year. Somehow it seems like I'm the only one who was not selected.

well i went to visit UCLA and when i came back no big packets, and saw the gates letter, a single simple envelope and a rejection was within, well i can relax now since the wait was driving me crazy

well at least I made friends with the Financial Aid person, he remembered that I had called him earlier this week, and that he saw me last week at the event in oakland. He agreed to call me and help me with my financing, its good to network
