Jumping the Gun on Acceptance?

My son was accepted at his first-choice school. We sent in the matriculation card. However, the college has not yet sent information on ''the package'' that it is offering. Did we mess up by sending the card in so soon? Will they still offer the same financial aid package that they would have if we had sent in the matriculation card later?

It matters what the school is. If it was a public university, you'll probably get a better financial deal because of what you did. Publics tend not to have unlimited aid, so it's first come, first served. If it was a LAC that offers some merit-aid, you may not get as good a deal because many such LACs are particularly interested in attracting males, which are hard to attract to LACs. If it was a place like a top 10 school, you'll probably get the same deal you would have gotten with a later response.
