| Thanks MamaDiva :-)
In Massachusetts, according to my letter, they generally mail the check to you. However, I plan on attending one of the "except" schools; That is, if you plan on attenting Harvard, MIT, Brown, Georgetown or Dartmouth, they will mail the check directly to the university. I'm not too sure why it's the case only with those schools.

From MA and I recently received notice that I won the Byrd scholarship. Scholarship checks are sent directly to the scholarship recipient (made payable to your college) unless you happen to be attending one of the colleges on their exception list. In this case, they mail the checks directly to the college.

I saw the Mississippi results on the dept of ed. website. Sorry I don't have the link, but if you google it, the scholars link is on the side of the page. DS did get it, thank goodness.

Has anyone received the funds to your school from this scholarship? If not, anyone has any idea when this scholarship will show up? Thank you.

Ohio: daughter got the check yesterday 8/23/08 but Stanford insists they will be receiving it even though I tried to tell them otherwise.

Check was sent directly to son's school a couple of weeks ago and the only notice we received was when it was posted to his account.

My son is at ASU and school starts tomorrow. Nothing show up at his account yet. I just wonder how others are doing at this point.

Yep, no notice from them yet. I've tried phoning their contact in my state but always get the voicemail.

Good... it doesn't show up in my D's account either. We got a letter back in early July or so saying it was going to go directly to the school, so it is in the works, I believe. But I am getting a little uneasy, as it came a couple of weeks earlier last year... We shall see. The school is not bugging us yet, though.

Here in Florida I asked when my school should receive the award and they said early- or mid-September.

It takes forever to show up on my daughter's account. From what I understand, my state sends the college a check without any documentation other than "Byrd Scholarship" -no indication of which students. It's then up to the business office to find out the details. If I remember correctly, it's usually sometime in November before it all gets settled.

Make sure your school sent the verification form back to your state. Our state would not release the funds until they got the form back from the school. I don't know if all states requires the verification form though.

For our state, they sent a verification form to my son. His school filled it out and put the school seal/stamp on it then they sent it back to the state agency handling the Byrd scholarship. Once received the state sends the school the check. It verifies that he is enrolled in the school and a full time student. We have to do it every year.
