Repaying student loans while still in school?

I took out a $3500 unsubsidized Stafford loan from Citibank my freshman year. I didn't really need to take out the loan, since I could have just taken $3500 from my own bank account. My parents have pressured me to apply for a renewal of my Stafford loan, since its interest rate is lower than any parent loans that my parents will have to take out eventually.

My question is: since I can afford it, should I start paying back my first loan, even if I'm planning on taking out a second?

If you can, you probably should, as your unsub loan is accruing interest.
