Coca Cola Scholarship

I've poked around the Coca Cola Scholarship website (https://www.coca-colascholars.org/co...p?navigation=1) but can't find the info I'm looking for.

Does anyone have info about this?
How many kids apply each year?
What kinds of kids win?
Are they all 2400/4.0, ivy-bound, superstars?
Does someone who is merely above average have a chance?

Thanks.

Yes, the website has a lot of information.

“The Coca−Cola Scholars Foundation received more than 79,000 applications this year, and the Semifinalists are truly some of the brightest students in the country,” said Mark Davis, President of the Foundation.

No, but many are.
Does someone who is merely above average have a chance?
Yes, if they have excelled in other areas of life.

D was a finalist a few years ago.

I think my friend is a Coca-Cola scholar. He made a 29 I believe on his ACT. Great score but no where near the academic superstar range. However, he excelled in various varsity sports and is very involved in his community. I'm sure his essay probably blew them out the water as well. I think he is a Gates Millenium Scholar as well, or maybe achieved some other level in that scholarship contest.

there are 480,000 applications as of right now.
Once you submit it, you will see what # you are.

do they require anything in addition to the application itself? (eg essays, score reports etc?)

I'm applying, though those numbers don't give me much hope.. I do have a 36 ACT and 4.0 though, but I bet many of the applicants do.

After the first cutdown, you will be asked for an essay, recommendations, and other material. The application is on-line. Yes, they will want to have your scores sent, along with transcripts.
