Mythbuster, I agree with you 100%. I think its rediculous that there are so few new OH Byrds this year. My daughter did receive it but the 108 this year is just way too small for a state this size.

Ohio Byrd Scholarship
Son received a letter on 7/2 saying he was an alternate for the Ohio Byrd Scholarship. Didn't know there was such a thing? Earlier in May he was told he did not receive one.

My D is also an OH alternate. I guess it is too much to hope that additional money will shake loose for these kids? Does anyone know if additional funds have become available in past years?

2009ishere- My best friend received the title as an alternate in LA. Alternates can apparently receive a Byrd scholarship if one of the Byrd scholars messes up.

It's not just TX - nothing yet from Mississippi either (or at least I hope not since D hasn't been notified!). It's annoying when a state only notifies winners. Last year the winners were listed on the state education web site but the pdf document wasn't generated until July 31 so we may have to wait a few more weeks to know.
