FAFSA--unemployment & form1099-misc

paradeparade Posts: 10Registered User New Member
Hi!

So i'm filling out my fafsa and i'm confused about a few things.

1. My dad was laid off and was receiving unemployment for most of 2008 where would that go on my fafsa(if at all), would that count as his income earned?

2. On my parents taxes there was also form 1099-misc, other income earned, where would I report that?

Thank you very much to whoever answers this for me. :]

There is no line for unemployment income on the FAFSA. It is included in your AGI. As far as the 1099 misc, you would add that income to the parent who earned it.

I just wanted to update my response to say that for the 1099 misc income your parent may have filled out a schedule C to subtract out expenses. The amount that you would add to income would be the amount AFTER expenses.
