Are there any colleges that give you a scholarship just for being a Catholic High School graduate?

Son prefers to go to a Catholic college, and he has attended Catholic school his entire life.

Do any Catholic colleges give you automatic scholarships, with reasonable stats, of course, just for coming from a Catholic school? IE, they don't require an essay, lots of recs, and only limited number given, so have to compete against others.

Looking for something like maybe: Automatic 5K scholarship just for coming from a Catholic HS with good but not spectular scores.

Son has 31 ACT and 2100 SAT. Probably top 20 percent in class, though school doesn't rank. Unweighted GPA probably between 3.0 and 3.5. Unweighted is 4.0. Taken all honors courses and APs throughout HS career.

My daughter applied to three Catholic universities...Santa Clara, U of San Diego, and Salve Regina. ALL had some kind of scholarship for students who were Catholic and attended the church. I believe Catholic University of America also has something. The awards were not very much money...but every penny counts.

* Moreau Scholarship: A full-tuition scholarship awarded annually for up
to four years.
Criteria:
* Attend a Holy Cross high school
* Rank in the top 10 percent of your senior class
* Score at least 1250 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT or 28 on the ACT
* Demonstrate academic excellence, leadership ability and commitment to community service

College of the Holy Cross has a few full tuition merit scholarships in fields like classics, music and a few others. They also have a huge list of others that are awarded based on need.

Lemoyne in Syracuse is generous with both merit and Catholic scholarships (Jesuit HS's) and is fairly moderate in price to begin with.

Check out the scholarship grid for University of Dayton. Your son's stats qualify him for the top level.

Your son's stats are above its averages, but Loyola University in Chicago gives pretty generous scholarships, among them one for having attended a Catholic high school. [students of your son's caliber usually receive multiple, LARGE scholarships though] If he intends to go pre-med, I know Loyola's pretty well known and renowned for its program.

Knott Scholarships are available for some catholic colleges in Maryland. I don't know whether you have to be from Maryland as well, but you definitely have to go to one of the schools designated. There is a Web site.

A number of Catholic colleges do give scholarships for kids graduating from Catholic schools. The rules vary from college to college, however. Sometimes it's is only if you are from the archdiocese, others can be any catholic school.

I know that I have seen Catholic University announcements of a nice scholarship from various areas. You have to be referred by your parish.

I did not see much at all for Holy Cross. That was one of the few schools that did not offer my son a dime. Nor did anyone else from this area get any merit money and some very heavy hitters ended up there. I know they do have a Classics scholarship, math/science scholarship, premed scholarship, but overall there are few kids getting merit money. On the other hand, Duquesne gives out a lot of scholarship money. You do have to research each school.
