Krug...that's a $15,000 per year scholarship AND the OOS student is only charged the IN STATE rate of tuition. So really it's a HUGE scholarship because you are saving that extra OOS tuition cost as well. In addition, USC allows "stacking" of scholarships up to the cost of attendance. SO if someone were to receive the McNair, and also other scholarships, they would be allowed to accept and use them ALL up to the cost of attendance. They also have an automatic award for NMS finalists...is that the Leiber?

yes that is the great thing about USC scholarships. Even if you only get $2000/year, you still get in-state tuition. HUGE. Could end up being cheaper than a Ga school.

AT USC I don't think you apply for the International Business program until after you matriculate - either freshman or sophomore year.

Well, it sounds like USCarolina is possible IF he gets a scholarship AND that scholarship (which will give him in-state rates) along with grants and possibly HOPE pay for the rest. Obviously, a $2k scholarship gives him "in-state" but that won't be enough if he doesn't have other $$ sources to pay for COA.

And.. that's a lot hinging on getting a USC scholarship - and his GPA is low. Does anyone know if a 3.0 GPA is a killer for scholarships? I would think that he would be competing against other kids with similar SATs/ACTs but with better GPAs. If that happens, his chances of getting a scholarship go way down.

But....either way....the OP still needs a "back up" plan that includes other schools. He still needs to have a couple good safeties from his home state (GA). Does anyone know anything about the business schools at the following GA state schools?

Georgia Southern U - 25% of the students are in some kind of business major

Georgia State U 32% are in a business major

Kennesaw State U 27% in a business major

North Georgia College and State U 24% in a business major

University of West Georgia 26% in a business major

Valdosta State U 17% in a business major

The fact that these schools have rather large business schools suggests to me that they would have a good program.

Don't any of these schools have a good international business program??

Anyone know???

thumper1 and mom2collegekids, thank you for the info on South Carolina and Alabama's scholarships. I have a son that is a junior so I am looking at schools that have a lot of merit since we do not qualify for need based aid (I know for sure since I have a freshman in college on full tuition merit).

Alabama schools

Does anyone know if any AL schools give In-State tuition like SC does for OOS students? My daughter is interested in Auburn.

For the original poster - USC recalculates GPA so depending on your classes it is possible that your USC gpa would be higher. My son took all honors and AP courses and his USC gpa was close to a 4 (on a 4 point scale) because of the classes they count and the weight they give to honors/AP

Go to their website and get a list of the required classes - the calculate GPA based on those classes each A=4 B=3 and so on. If it is honors you get to add 1 point. Honors A = 5, etc.

I'm not sure who the admissions counselor is for GA but this is explained during admissions visits to schools and open houses.

Good luck.
