Financial Aid and House Value

My family makes very little money (less than $30,000 and we have 4 people), but we own a $750,000 house with no mortgage (the house was bought in the mid 1960s).

How much will house-value affect financial aid at schools like MIT, Stanford, Princeton, and Yale?

It varies by school. They have their own policies. Yale says it caps home equity to a percentage of income, so there at least the home equity shouldn't come back to bite you too badly.

I'm not sure about the other schools you listed.

Here's some info on schools that agree to cap home equity. I read that Columbia also recently adopted a similar policy.
