How Much Aid Will I Get?

Our family income is in the $175,000-200,000 bracket. How much aid will I probably receive under an Early Decision plan? Also, I have a sibling who is a sophomore in high school, so he will be in college three years from now.

From the vast majority of colleges, you would get no need based aid. See the thread on HYPS for info on the few where you could. When your brother enters college, if you both attend schools that meet full need, you may qualify for some need based aid at that time, depending on many factors including parental assets.

You won't be eligible for need based aid at almost every school. (Harvard might be the exception, and I think Harvard financial aid maxes out at 180k). If you file your FAFSA you can get an unsubsidized Stafford loan. On the other hand, you can try for merit aid.

Your chances for any aid is slim since there is really only a couple of schools that give aid for that kind of high income - and those schools are super hard to get into. Even once your brother is finally in college, your parents income and assets will likely be even greater. In the meantime FA will only consider that one child will be in college. FA doesn't consider that another child might go to college in the future and therefore give more money now.

With the kind of income your parents have, their EFC will be super high - far exceeding the cost of your education.

What have your parents said? How much can they pay for your education each year?

If your parents can't meet the full costs of your education, then you must look for merit $$.

What are your stats?

What is your home state?
