My understanding is that the so called "luxury dorms" are not UF dorms, but off campus housing not owned or managed by UF. The marketing is very deceiving at best. Make sure you do the homework. Dont know if the "luxury dorms" are are good or bad.

I've seen the pictures and read about them. There bigger then their usual dorms and also cheaper.

You may want to get feedback from students--especially from 1st year students that haved lived there--are there mostly upperclassmen and students that didnt get on-campus housing or waited to long. What is the percentage of freshman and what is the proximity to dining if on a meal plan and classes? Is it a red flag that on-campus housing at UF is always full but the "luxury dorms" have availability--better to pay a little more for housing to have a better freshman experience than have remorse. Good Luck either way and give feedback if you get to visit the "luxury dorms" first hand.

Luxury Dorms

Luxury dorms are not dorms at all - they are just apartments that are marketed in a very deceiving way. They are very close to campus, which is a plus, but they are mainly used by sophomores and upperclassmen who aren't wanting to live in a "real dorms". They are pretty poor choices for housing. They are super close to campus, but they are also very dirty and poorly run, and the rooms are SO TINY for the price you pay and usually you share with another person. Not cool. Either live in a real dorm (which I HIGHLY recommend!!) or live in a real apartment.
