In my school everybody and their mother made it, its not a bad university though, i know a lot of people that did not make it to UF so they just went to FIU, they are top 10%.

If you have over a 5.0, you should recalculate your GPA so you know where you stand. Unless FIU weighs advanced level classes differently from every other FL school it goes like this..
Honors/Pre Ib: .5 Extra
AP/IB/DE: 1.0 Extra

Honestly, I've never known of anyone who has been rejected by FIU. I mean, as long as you have like a 2.5 GPA, pay the $30 app fee, and have a high school diploma or GED, you are in! No essay. You dont even HAVE to submit SAT or ACT scores (but you should). If you dont they might only accept you to start in the summer term since they give priority to those who submitted their scores to start during the fall. But fall or summer, you are in as long as you graduate high school!

Not necessarily true. I come from a private Miami school that is highly esteemed, and there are some students that did not make it in. Don't bash the school just because they give opportunities to students who do not necessarily have incredibly high test scores -- they believe in the potential of students.

I am in the FIU honors program for Pre-Med, and I am highly satisfied. I made it to Johns Hopkins and Notre Dame but was not given much financial aid, and my mother who is single cannot pay a $50,000 tuition. I picked FIU because I receive an average of $15,000 every year EXTRA-- it gets sent to my bank account-- because I got full ride to FIU, books and everything paid. That money I will save and use it to at least pay one year of Medical school for graduate school -- Johns Hopkins is my #1 choice for that. College isn't like high school, it's not about the school, its about your efforts and the imprint that you leave. I came from an esteemed all girls private school and had financial aid there too, because it basically costs more than FIU. BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE. Great teachers, great environment, great opportunities for research, etc.
