BA at FSU

Hello everyone,
My D was accepted to the BA program in theater. She is really interested in a MT career, and of course would like to get in to the BFA program. We were wondering if attending FSU under the BA program would afford any advantage to getting in to the BFA program, perhaps mid-year or the next fall.
Thanks

Hello,
I'm afraid attending the BA program does not offer an advantage for getting into the BFA program. We evaluate all students individually during the audition process, regardless of their institution of origin. Our audition cycle is for a fall admission to the BFA program.

If your daughter were to attend FSU in the fall as a BA Theatre major and elected to take dance classes and voice lessons, that would strengthen her audition to any BFA MT program. The BA program itself is a general theatre degree and is not performance intensive.

Please post or PM me if you have more questions and I will be happy to help!

Michele

I couldn't find an existing thread on this, but perhaps someone knows... Can a student apply to (and audition for) both MT and dance at FSU or are they limited to applying to one program. I know that the student would not be accepted to or be able to enroll in both.

While admissions requires only one major listed in that field of the application, audition appointments are made through the individual department. The major code listed on the admissions screen is not that important. The auditions are completely separate, and it would actually be possible for you to be admitted into both programs and then choose which you would prefer. If you have more questions about this, please give me a call and I will explain it in more detail. (850) 644-5548.

Take care!
