| Hey Michele!
I met you when I came down to visit last march, and we talked about audition pieces and, I promise you, I will not be singing Mister Snow or Vanilla Ice Cream!
I will be auditioning on Sunday, February 11th--hopefully the weather will be nice. I look forward to seeing you again and wish me luck!

| Jessica,
It will be nice to see you again! Luckily trends change as far as songs that are frequently used :-) This year will be different. What we love is to hear students sing the heck out of whatever they have selected! |

| I don't know if anyone can answer this, but is acceptance based more or less on how you do in comparison to the rest of your peers that day, or throughout the audition? I know the answer would most likely be "the whole audition," but they have to have SOME idea who is in and who is out a few days after the audition, right?
Secondly, does anyone know if there will be a waiting list this year?
Thanks |

| Acceptance is based on how you do in relation to everyone who auditions, however to some degree you are right. After each audition day we have a "for further consideration" list, but no decisions are made until we've seen everyone. After the very last audition we look at all the students we are considering and make decisions. At that point it gets incredibly difficult, which is why we structure our auditions so that we all see each and every candidate.
Yes, we do plan to have a waiting (alternate) list this year, although I am not yet sure how many candidates will be on it.

| Question All4FSU My daughter put Theater/Musical theater on the application however, she filled out the music program supplement to audition for Musical Theater. She is NOT a music major and wanted to apply under the theater program. Her audition is this weekend. What should she do? |

| Cindy,
Just come see me at check in and I will make sure she is all set. There will be a mix of BFA and BM candidates in the room and they all audition together. Often candidates aren't sure which track they prefer until they arrive (and it makes no difference for the purposes of getting in to MT.)
It would probably save her a few minutes that morning if you go to the web site below, print the BFA application, fill it out and bring it with you. I always have copies with me, but usually the candidates like to spend those first few minutes talking to students, stretching, etc - not filling out paperwork, LOL! http://www.theatre.fsu.edu/pages/und...plication.html
Travel safely!

| Thanks so much. Let me also ask one more thing. I see with the Theater application she should have had 3 recommendations, etc. one week prior to this audition. Can she bring all of this with her. She is in Chicago right now. Or, will this be too late. I understand the deadlines fully and understand if she cannot bring them with her. I just want to make sure we don't make this 12 hour drive just to be told she should have had these things in prior. Does that make sense. It's our fault that she missed the boat. Thanks again for all your assistance, I do appreciate it.

| Cindy,
She can absolutely bring it with her! While we like to have it in advance, it's not essential to the process as long as we know she's coming. What we really want the most id for her to relax, have fun and have a great audition.
For the record, we would never deny a candidate the opportunity to audition just because something is missing from his/her file. The process of auditioning for Music Theatre programs is difficult and stressful enough.
I have applications to the BFA program on hand, and I recommend to all students that they always carry a headshot and resume. |

| Michelle,
My d applied for the BM/Musical Theatrem however, she has decided that the BFA/Musical Theatre would be a better match for her. She has downloaded the appropriate form and will bring it to the auditions on Sat. All letters of recommendation have been sent in. Will she need more if she changes to the BFA?
Thanks,
Susan |

| Susan,
It will be nice to meet you and your D. We will just transfer the contents of her folder at check in and she will be all set!
A quick note to all auditioning: we will be beginning with the dance portion of the audition. We recommend that you come dressed to dance so you don't need to go change :-) |

| I hate to bother you one more time however, I did try to call the telephone number on the paperwork we received from The College of Music and I could not get a live person.
It says we need to meet in the registration area HMU 088 at 8:30. Is this the correct place even though we are switching to the BFA program? Also, I looked on the map, found the HMU building but did not see a 088. Is this the Housewright Building? And, then we will just find the room once we get there? As long as we are heading in the right direction, we are good. |
