| I've auditioned twice, in two different dance environments, and I would say bring whatever you have, and use the same philosophy you would use for clothes in winter: you can always take things off, but you can't make things appear if you don't have them. The dance studio they used this year was VERY nice, and worked well with most jazz shoes. However, if you are in a dance space where your shoes are slippery the instructor will usually allow you to use "foot-thongs" or dance barefoot if it's safe.
