Applying online

Okay, we filled out the online application for the College of Music this weekend, so we could secure an audition date. So far, we have not received any kind of response from FSU. How long should it be before we get a response?

You will not secure an audition date by filling out the app. You will have to call after Oct 1.

Hello,
I'm just popping in to clarify :-)

Since FSU Music Theatre is a cooperative program between the School of Theatre and the College of Music, students can choose whether they prefer a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or a Bachelor of Music degree. The core MT classes are the same and all taken together as a group, but there are a few differences in the curricula - primarily in the non-MT classes. I think the two curricula have been described rather comprehensively here on CC so I won't rehash it, but if anyone has questions, please send me a PM or give me a call and I'll be glad to help.

The method of obtaining an audition appointment through the School of Theatre is to call us on October 1st or later (but not too much later, LOL!) and we will set you up with a specific audition date and time. It will be confirmed before you hang up the phone and you will receive a confirmation letter in the mail about two weeks before your audition. If you are applying for the BM under the College of Music umbrella, their process is that you send in a paper application with your requested dates in order of preference. After they have processed your application, they will mail you back a confirmation letter with the date and time you received. There is really no advantage to either method as far as getting an appointment. We communicate regularly (sometimes several times a day) with each other to make sure we get the appointments made as efficiently as possible. Once we are completely booked, we begin a waiting list ranked by date & time the request is received. BFA's and BM's all audition together and we all watch each audition, so there is no difference or advantage to either program, it is just a matter of the student's personal fit or preference.

This is tough to communicate in writing, so onece again if you have questions, I urge you to contact me!
