You're auditioning yourself for the school, so I would say go with whichever monologue YOU like best, not what the school likes best. Pick something that jumps out at you, and this whole process will become easier.

Jazzymcc, no matter where you go for auditions, it is important to pick monologues that are really contrasting so that it shows off your range as an actress or that at least you tried to come up with variety. For example if you are a strong comedic actor, pick a piece that showcases that, and then make sure that your second monologue shows a different emotion, this could be a dramatic one displaying anger, despair etc.

If you are auditioning for Music Theatre, we only require one 90 second monologue. (We are also considering the presentation of your two songs as an opportunity to see your acting.)

Most students prefer monologues from contemporary plays so I suggest that you start there. We like to see you perform a piece that YOU like and feel comfortable with. Choose a monologue and a character that you can connect with and show us that connection. Take us on your journey through the story of the piece with you.
This process isn't about us and what we want to see...it's about you and what you want to show us. Try your best to view this as just another opportunity to do what you love - perform.
