The Student Senate passed a resolution that will be sent to the University Board of Trustees. The resolution is to charge students a fee of $20 a semester as well as a $2 increase for each credit hour in order to build a new Health and Wellness Center on campus.
The new Health and Wellness Center will be double the square footage of the current health center and is hoped to be open in two years. With the increase in space, the Health and Wellness Center will be able to house more staff as well as provide exercise and aerobics rooms.
From what I have heard, you have to have an appointment to see a doctor at Thagard when you are sick and they don't allow walk-ins. My own son ended up using TelaDoc: Primary Health Care Via Instant Remote Access: Obesity, Diabetes, Hypertension
to get a prescription for antibiotics when he had an ear infection a few weeks ago since he did not want to wait to be treated.
My only problem with this proposal is that current students could be paying for facilities that they may never use.
