Daughter deferred to RD.....

My DD was deferred from early to regular decision. They asked for another letter of recommendation, essay, etc.

Wondering when we will receive the decision and what are the odds of her being accepted
for RD.....

3.4ish GPA
1890 SAT
29 ACT
Alot of ECS, decent essays and good recommendations

My letter came around March 15th, so in 2-4 weeks probably. Her stats are a little low for Fordham but not out of Fordham range so she has a chance, especially if she has a strong volunteering record.

My S was deferred and then got in regular decision. He did work hard to make sure he had very strong grades during his senior year to help his case. Good luck.

Deferrals are for some of the strangest reasons. Admissions is a complex process and with a record number of applications this year...truly stunning number of 27.000, Fordham is in the unenviable (or enviable?) position of picking students with amazing stats. An 1890 SAT was almost a sure thing, very very recently. Its still very much in the game, just not a slam dunk anymore. Your gpa is, in my view, the likely culprit. Fordham can pick an entire class with kids above 3.7 if they wanted to. Your grades this year will weigh heavily on their decision. That extra essay and recommendation will also factor in, of course. And your level of interest.

Its almost decision time. I would venture to say you likely get in. Good luck.

I know this is an old thread, but would you please let me know what your S did to gain admittance from the RD pool after he received the deferral? Did he send in another essay, retake tests, write to the admissions counselor, additional letter of recommendation?

I also know that suamom's D eventually got admitted RD after the deferral.

My S called the Office of Admission this morning and he spoke to an Admission counselor regarding his deferral. He was told that all they needed was his mid-year grade report. What other optional steps can he take to enhance his application?
Fordham is his absolute first choice.

He already received acceptances from SLU, UPortland, Loyola Chicago, Loyola New Orleans, ASU Barrett, and Case Western. All of these schools are very good, but his heart has been set on Fordham ever since our visit last summer.
3.59uw
30 ACT
1270 / 1910 SAT (not submitted, but we probably should for RD)
SATII Math2 740 / Physics 700 (submitted)
WA state Jesuit school, honors/AP track
URM

Suggestions . . . anyone? Where and who to send personal letter . . . snail mail or email?
