Am I considered poor enough to receive the GMS?

I'm going to be a Junior this upcoming year, I am of Hispanic descent,Mexican, to be precise, and I am involved with several extra-curriculars; it's safe to say that I am one of, if not the most active student in my class. I am the Saludictorian in my class, (4.35 gpa). The thing is, my parents are not helping me pay for college, and the GMS will pay for everything if I can get it.
My parents earn about $65,000-$70,000 a year, is this too high?

Here's the deal, the Gates Scholarship doesn't cover EVERYTHING. They only cover financial need which is money that the student must pay that the school can't cover. It does not cover family contribution which is your EFC you get once you file a FAFSA.

Also your parents income may be too high to even qualify. You must be Pell Grant eligible in order to receive this scholarship. I received this scholarship last year and my parents make 20,000-35,000 a year depending on how my dad's work is. I am too of Hispanic descent, and graduated with a 4.6 gpa, was president of 4 clubs, treasurer of two, 4 year varisty track, 2 years of theater productions, 1 year of football, 2 years cross country, had 600+ community service hours, and was Salutatorian. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at UCLA. If you have any more question, feel free to ask.
