Hello,
Do take note that you can only apply for the scholarship if you are a senior in high school or GED recipient attending an accredited university/college in the fall of 2013. However, if you are a junior this fall wanting to apply, my advice is to prepare yourself.

What you need for the scholarship is all on the website (::. The Gates Millennium Scholars .::), it is all also posted in this thread (Presentation Gates Millennium Scholarship)

If you have any specific questions, you can message me on CC here. Good luck!

You have A LOT of time to prepare yourself well for the application! Start focusing on volunteering and exploring what your own interests in life are. I would suggest you attempt to try to focus your volunteering activities on what your interests are in life. If as an applicant you can show direction with your life through passion and commitment, you will definetly stand out. Are you currently looking at any leadership positions in any club or organization? Is there anyone who you think would write you a great letter of rec?

=\ that's the thing... I know I'm gonna have problems with extracurriculars, volunteering, and community service hours... like, I don't know what to do... I'm not a lazy person... I just don't know where to get community service hours...

For extracurriculars, I'm planning to join the math team, fbla, and possibly science olympiad... *sigh* my school doesn't have much ECs =\

Ohh and I'm also on the track team...

May ask you what kinds of leadership stuff you (or someone you know) did ?
