Whats the difference between the Common Application and GW Onlin App?

I'm applying to George Washington University and it is my only private school. I was planning on using the common app, but while looking at the GW website i saw that they also have an online application. After filling this application out, i noticed that it doesn't ask for Letters of Recommendation. If you really don't need Letters of Rec for the GW online app, I'd much rather use this. I'm just scarred that you might have to send letters of Rec. Does anyone know if the George Washington online app needs letters of Rec?
