| Who's Applying to GW?
So this is a thread to see who is applying to GW for fall 2010. This tread can be used to inform others how your admission process is going and if anyone has questions. If we can all help each other out I feel it will take the stress off for all of us in applying.
So I'll go first.
Im applying ED1 and I've toured the school twice.
Ive already had my interview and I'm working on my essays.
Major:Political Science
Going to GW because its in the city, great internships, and the schools political science program.
Any information you wanna post go ahead and do it. It can only help others!!

I am, but as a transfer.
I'm working on my essay and common app. essay. They will hopefully be fully revised and great by the end of the month!
It may be a reach for me because I did poorly when I attended college 10 years ago (personal problems), but returned to school this year and have been maintaining a 3.85 and classes this semester are all A's as well.
I have about 13 years of legal assistant experience with top law firms, so I hope they consider that. I also have great professional LOR's and professor LOR's.
So say a little prayer for me!

Applying RD, since I've got a few other EA apps. out.
Toured the school once, really liked it.
Passed on an interview
Major: Business, Economics, and Public Policy. I thought it was an interesting major, but if it doesn't work out, probably poli. sci.
Love the city, internship possibilities, and I wanted a school with a good basketball team.

Anthonya: "music is amazing?" in DC? don't get the statememnt on why you wanna come here to GW, you placed partying over the opportunities in the school offers.

Wow anthonya... Chinese and Arabic? If you actually do well in both you will be in such high demand for jobs.
I plan on applying ED to GWU, depends on my subject test scores. I'm probably going to major in international relations at the Elliott School or journalism. I love GWU because it's in the heart of DC, reat eateries, good interships, great schools for either of my majors, and I like city life.

Multitasker: I meant the Music scene is amazing...
i obviously love everything about GW, i was just saying other stuff and if i was really basing it on partying, wouldnt i have applied to school in new york, where partying is obviously better?
i was just trying to start a conversation...

hey thanks everyone for posting on my thread. I have a question, will GW receive my Nov. 7 SAT's in enough time before they make there ED1 acceptance list. Its says on their web site that ED1 decisions will be around mid-december, the november SAT's should be back way before that. They will be included in my application right?

Yeah, they should be. I listed that I was taking the October SAT in my application but ended up being too sick to go (was worried I had H121..yuck.) I still provided my ACT score, will this hurt me if I don't submit my SAT score? Also, does anyone know what the EDI acceptance rate is? I've heard between 50-70% from different sources...

I'm applying RD. It's a low-match for me - a safety if the acceptance rate weren't a little iffy. While it is my second choice, my best financial aid package is almost certainly not going to come from them. I love everything about GW and am going to be sad if it turns out I don't attend... but I love DC so much that I want to live there my entire life. I want to work for the government (NOT as a politician) and I'd like to go to Georgetown for grad school if it turns out I do major in IR. As such, I'm using these next four years to live somewhere else for awhile... IF GW doesn't come through with financial aid.

yea ive heard the acceptance rate for ED1 is around 66%. But i read in the GW Hatchet that that rate will probably drop because more people are going to apply ED1 for the security and admission boost.

I'm applying as a transfer from Mount Holyoke as a sophomore.
I love GW, but sadly I only visited after I had done my application, so my "Why GW" essay was terrible (when I wrote it I still didn't have a clear idea of why I wanted to go to GW). But now I'm looking for a school with a strong poli sci dept as well as an urban setting with plenty of internship opportunities. The fact that there is a women's rugby team makes it my dream school.
