Hello everyone, I want to go pre-med and Georgetown is one of the colleges that I am seriously taking into consideration as one of my top choices. I would like some insight and opinions of my H.S career so far:

I go to a very good public school in New Jersey. I'm also Hispanic/Latino.

Curriculars

Freshmen: Biology Honors, Algebra II Honors, English Honors, Spanish II(No honors offered), History CPE, Intro Business, Intro Wood. (G.P.A: 3.8 :[ )
Sophmore: Chemistry Honors, Geometry Honors, English Honors, Spanish III Honors, History CPE, Intro Auto. (Projected G.P.A: 4.25)
*GPA on an odd scale, in honors your grade is weighted one letter grade higher, and +&- have their own scales too. ex: 5.3 A+ in honors 4.8 A- in honors.
-I want to take about 6 A.P classes over the next two years. No A.P classes offered until junior year.

-PSAT as a freshmen was around a 1030 on a 1600 SAT scale. Our class took the P.L.A.N test this year which is essentially the PACTs, didn't get results back yet. I'm planning on doing much better

This is it so far. I want to become an E.M.T when I turn 16 and I also hope to get into the National Honors Society and World Language Honors Society

Polyosophy

Your PSAT is a little low to predict your SAT score. I got a 130/160 for M+CR. Also, your GPA is a little low. Just keep working hard and you'll be fine. Don't become obsessed with one college because they may reject you, have options.

Dont worry about your PSAT score. Definitely wait to see how you did on the PLAN. My PSAT wasn't much higher than your's but I managed to get a decent score on the ACT. Otherwise you look like you're on the right track.

If anything, don't be on this website right now. Enjoy your underclassmen years- you'll want them back at stressful times when you're a senior.

thanks for the input guys. I'm not just focusing on Georgetown either, in fact it'll most likely be one of my reaches. I plan on doing astronomically better on the SATs, and i also plan on raising my G.P.A more as well. I just hope that Georgetown doesn't look as much at Freshmen grades?

I'm with 2015ftw.
It is ridiculous to be thinking at this point about how strong an applicant you'll be. Too much ahead of you in the next two years.
Do your best, be involved in ECs that you care about (and try to get leadership positions in one or two; don't focus on creating a "list" - colleges aren't impressed by that).
Prepare well for your tests.
Come back at the end of your junior year.

My advise is to take the SAT subject test in May or June this year in subjects you are taking this year and do the same at the end of your junior year for the AP subjects in your junior year.

That will put you on track for the subject test requirement.

Ignore the haters , planning for the academic future is ok as long as you don't obsess about it. Enjoy High school!

Sorry for bumping, I guess, but i took a Pre-ACT test this year (Called the PLAN, as mentioned in my initial post) and compared to a regular ACT i got a 32 combined. I assume this affects my chances more, can anyone comment please?

there is no way of knowing with school's like Georgetown. My situation was like you when I was a sophomore and none of my grades or scores decreased but I just got deferred.

Find a hook. write a great essay. and just pray. there is really no way of knowing how these things work. I was obviously not good enough, so you gotta be the best at all you do so they dont find an excuse!

Congratulations on all your accomplishments so far and keep doing what you are doing! Keep your options open just so that you dont unnecessarily disappoint yourself! Good luck, and I really really hope you get your dream!
