SFS chances??

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone could give me a feel for how good my chances are for School of Foreign Service. My stats are as follows:

SAT I: 1510 (760M, 750V)
SAT IIs: 720 MIIC, 760 Writing, 700 Spanish

AP US History: 4
AP Spanish Language: 4
AP English Language and Composition: 4

This years classes: AP World History, AP Spanish Literature, AP Calculus AB, AP Art History, AP English Literature, French I, Advanced Video Art II

GPA: 3.8 Weighted (obviously senior year higher, 4.2W currently). I'm coming from an extremely challenging private school in L.A. that is well known among admissions officers so we are told that they expect a lower GPA

Awards etc.:

Honor Roll all grades thus far
National Merit Commendation
AP Scholar

ECs:

Varsity Tennis (3yrs) - CIF-SS Championship winning team, manager 12th
Young Leftists Club - Founder/President/Editor of its weekly newsletter
Admissions Committee - 3yr member
Movie Making - directed a number of short films/music videos
School Newspaper - occasional political column writer
JV Soccer (9th, 10th)

Summer/Job exp:

Month-long intern for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer's election campaign
Day Camp co-counselor
Parish Thrift Shop regular volunteer

Only other relevant piece of info is that I moved from England to L.A. when i was 12 so i'm pretty much as American as i am English. Given that I want to major in poly sci i've made a big deal about how it gives me a unique perspective on politics etc. By the way my school doesn't rank and my recs and essays should be good. Anyhoo, all thoughts (please be candid) are welcome,

Tim

I wouldn't agree with the "expect less from private schools"...a lot of people excel under extreme circumstances, anyway. (But then again, I'm just a disgruntled public school student).

I have no idea. You have a good shot, I guess, but no one's really a shoo in. I think they'll like that you started a club.

You sound like a good match. You should read the official decisions thread, it has all of our accepted and deferred statistics. I was accepted to SFS with similar stats, though I definitely didn't go to harvard-westlake.

I agree w/ the above poster. You have a reasonable shot, from the looks of it your essays will probably make or break your application.

Wait... doesn't SFS want you to have one of your SAT IIs be some kind of history?

no, I don't think it matters. (about the SATII)

I have an old friend who used to go to Harvard Westlake...I don't know if she does anymore though.

You're well within the median (SAT, at least) for SFS...it is 1410 I believe.
