The only students from my high school who went to ND were those kids who were dying to go to Georgetown but got waitlisted or rejected. Objectively Georgetown is more prestigious. ND is definitely a good school, better than BC and Holy Cross but not on Georgetown's level.

Notre Dame's biggest drawback is that it is in South Bend, Indiana. Georgetown has the best location in Washington, DC. BC's is second best being 9 miles west of Boston and HC is 40 miles west of Boston.

careful when talking about prestige. For the East Coast G-town wins, but for everywhere else, esp. the midwest, I've been told that ND wins.

I'm from California, and the idea that ND has more prestige than Georgetown is laughable.

Hahaha. I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to offend, Jimmie-- I was just trying to refute the idea that 'everywhere else' ND has more prestige.
Everyone who knows anything understands that, at this level of higher education, what matters most is where you best fit in.
Please don't take it personally.

I really dislike the fact that there's a huge field smack dab in the middle of campus... kind of turned me off

I disliked how all of the buildings seemed close together and seemed quite imposing.

I disliked how the students all seemed kind of arrogant

Milkmagn, do you get some sort of pleasure from posting all over the Gtown forum bashing the school at every opportunity? We all know by now your going to Tufts, which is great for you. But i dont care how much you dislike Gtown, and im pretty sure that im speaking for the majority of the posters here.

My issue with Tufts is that students at Tufts are known for being consistently unhappy due to the fact that almost all of them were rejected from some Ivy League institutions and settled for Tufts. I have never heard this about Georgetown students.

The impression I got from Tufts was similar-- everyone there was unable to get into an Ivy, and was therefore hypercompetitive and mean to everyone else as a way to compensate for it. I don't think that really exists at Georgetown.

in fact, many people would choose georgetown over an ivy because its academically comparable and it has a better location, sports, and atmosphere than ivies
