Not to sounds like we are ganging up on you or anything, but I am going to have to agree with everyone above. Tufts is a great school. You are going to have a great four years. Focus on the amazing opportunities you are going to have there. Fall in love with Boston and Tufts' appropriately spaced buildings, field free campus, and down to earth students. But maybe could you back off on the Georgetown bashing because we really love the school with all it's imperfections. I'm not about sugar coating. Honesty is important but this not very productive. Especially since (and this is the important part) both of them are fantastic institutions that will help you get to where you want to go. You had to choose one. We all did. Embrace it and move on. Please.

Wow milkman, get a life. You made a decision: move on.

Just know that last year, a girl in my graduating class and I both gained admission to Georgetown as well as Tufts (both for pre-med).

I chose Georgetown. She chose Tufts.

I could not be happier at my school.

According to this girl's friends, she's tranferring right on out of Tufts to here.

that's just one story... both school's freshman retention rates are quite high

My issue with Tufts is that students at Tufts are known for being consistently unhappy due to the fact that almost all of them were rejected from some Ivy League institutions and settled for Tufts. I have never heard this about Georgetown students.
well, Tufts has some of the happiest students, according to princeton review... And a lot of the georgetown students I know, GAAP representatives were all rejected from the ivies they applied to and so the next best pick was georgetown. Please don't generalize by saying all tufts students were rejected from ivy league without actual facts and data

I just guess I wasn't feeling georgetown's campus or that impressed with georgetown when I visited.

and gtown>tufts
not for the sciences, andf they're pretty academically similar schools...

^why? I toured the facilities at both schools and gtown's was far out of date... For almost anyone I talked to NOT on this board (such as the college selection board), they've all suggested tufts over georgetown for sciences (especially pre-dental)

Oh facilities wise probably- I have never been to Notre Dame- but teaching wise I doubt it. Considering the fact that Georgetown has more students at top graduate school programs than notre dame I would say facilities doesn't matter that much. I would further postulate that the college one goes too does not matter. If you are going to reach the pinnacle of your career regardless of whether you go to podunk state or yale nothing is going to stop you..

According to the Princeton review: "What Tufts Students Say About... Student Body - Some students tell us that Tuft's reputation as a haven for the "Ivy League reject" is accurate. Others vehemently disagree. "The Tufts Ivy complex is over," argues one student. "Anyone here could get into Cornell!" Students describe themselves as "genuinely nice," "painfully liberal," and "very goal-oriented." They are "laid-back" and only "competitive with themselves."

Tufts, unfortunately, has had this "ivy rejection" reputation. I know I have read about it on this message board, but that does not mean the kids who choose Tufts and are there are not loving it!

On the other hand, I am sure there are kids at Tufts who chose Tufts over an Ivy, and I know there are kids at G-town who chose G-town over any ivy - 2 from my d's h.s. including my d.

Considering Tufts has a Dental school, and that is Milkmagn's interest, I think she made the right choice for her college years.

Good luck.

Hi

Im currently wait listed at Georgetown, and as of now I've accepted admission at Tufts. Im deeply disappointed with this thread, actually I'm repulsed. All this petty bickering and defensive retorts is disgusting. You Georgetown guys don't need to even respond to Milkmagn. This is ridiculous, and I sincerely hope no one on this thread is an accurate representation of their respective schools. I feel very unexcited about attend either now.

Hey mcmatt--

So sorry you had to sit through this. Us Georgetown kids did get a little carried away, I guess, but if you'll look back at some of the threads, milkmagn has been trolling for quite some time trying to get a rise out of the georgetown students. It all just kind of came to a head on this thread. So, in true internet fashion, a spam war ensued. It's kind of embarrassing. Ha.
