Special Interest

I think there was a topic about this before, but now that we're getting down to it I'd like to delve more in depth. So I have several questions:

1) Can Freshmen apply to the Global Living Floor?
2) Does anyone know anything about the American Culture floor?
and finally...
3) Do you think it is better for a freshman to stay in a freshman dorm? Someone was saying that people in special interest floors get to know each other and don't interact outside the campus...But that could be a personality quirk and not really the nature of the program, right?

Any help/direction is welcome. I'm pretty much going back in forth with what exactly I want to do here. I suppose there are always the next three years..but, why waste a whole one when speculating for the future?

nopes....freshman can not apply to global living...its for sophs or above. copley 2. GLC has a reputation of being like a cult, as they all hang out together, since 95% of them are internationals. if you want to do special interest, then do living well. you will get harbin 2 which is awesome, harbin AND the second floor. and yes you are right about not interacting with people of your year, as the other SIH are in the quad.
american culture floor is also for sophs and above and is in LXR. my friend will be the RA for that floor for 05-06.
hope that helps

Actually GLC is 50% international, 50% domestic. They purposefully keep it that way. Freshmen cannot apply as applications go out at the end of spring semester...so you're going to have to wait on that. The American Culture floor is the same. I have the e-mails of the advisors for the floor if you want to PM me.
There are a few special interest floors that freshmen can apply to- most will put you in a freshmen dorm but one or two will put you in the SW Quad with upperclassmen. I have a few friends who were freshmen this year that got into the Quad that way.

Living Well does not have that cultish feel I assume then/Would you recommend it?

and if you do living well, like the other SIH, does that mean you cannot use CHARMS?
