Admission Stats for Class of 2017

I know many of you are anxious to hear your admissions decision tomorrow and I am not trying to add to that stress. However I remember wanting to know as much information as possible when going through the process with my child that I figured I would share with you this year's admission info just released by GAtech.

From the admissions office:

" This year we experienced a tremendous amount of growth in applications, receiving a total of 17,650. That is 3,000 more applicants than last year, representing a 20 percent increase. Our admit rate will be 40 percent -- making this the first year in Georgia Tech history we've admitted less than 50 percent of applicants. "

In terms of numbers here is the profile for Class of 2017.

Regular Decision Profile

All Applicants: 17,650
Averages: 3.83 GPA, 2050 SAT, 8 AP/IB/Dual Enrollment

Admitted Students: 40 percent Admit Rate
Averages: 3.99 GPA, 2150 SAT, 8 AP/IB/Dual Enrollment

Good luck to everyone tomorrow. I hope everyone gets the news they are hoping for. I can't stress this enough but if you do not get the news you want from GA Tech please that there is a college out there for you that will give you a great education and college experience. My oldest child did not get into any reach schools. This child attends a great university that was a match/safety for this child which they completely love. All the time this child looks back and is thankful for being rejected by the reach schools because the school this child attends really is perfect for this child and they can't think of attending college anywhere else. I will send good thoughts to all of you.
